Candlelight Quartet, Friday, April 18, 2008 at 7 pm

CandleLight Quartet originally began as a duo and trio with Susi Tedrick and David Clare as the primary musicians. The group expanded when it began playing at Gesu church under the direction of Dr. Joe Metzinger, Music Director. Interest in the Harpsichord as an integral part of Baroque Music increased. Today, the group performs regularly at Gesu and Cleveland area churches for weddings, funerals, and special masses. Through these regular performances and their participation in concerts, the group strives to reacquaint audiences with the harpsichord, and authentic Baroque music.

Cantores Ecclesiae, November 9, 2007

Cantores Ecclesiae, Cleveland's new early vocal music group presents, "Tudor England: Music in times of Turmoil", featuring music by some of the most influential composers of the era, including Robert Fayrfax, John Taverner, Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, and others. During the period 1485-1603, watershed events taking place in England had far reaching religious, political, and social implications for the whole of the European continent and beyond. As the historical foundation of Roman Catholicism shook to its core, the powerful and the commoners alike felt the rumblings in their daily lives. Cantores Ecclesiae explores the tremendous changes in music making which evolved at court and in the churches during this frightening and fascinating time.

Cantores Ecclesiae, directed by Barbara Margolis, is dedicated to introducing the splendor of Medieval and Renaissance music to new audiences, and to develop listener understanding of music within historical cultural context.
